Description:The Constructive Teaching Centre was established in 1960 by Walter Carrington as the new home for F.M.Alexander's original training course which he was supervising at the time of Alexander's death.
Note:Candidates for admission must be of good health, character and education. Since Alexander teachers are often called upon to work with people of widely differing ages, needs and interests, almost any form of previous training and experience can be an advantage; but none is essential.
A thorough course of instruction in the Technique however, on a basis of individual lessons is presumed.

Description:This workshop (free-of-charge, courtesy Delray Beach Public Library as part of their Healthy Living Series) will offer an introduction to the Alexander Technique – a self-care method that can help those who suffer from chronic pain - reviewing movement and postural patterns with emphasis on kinesthetic awareness through mind-body education. The Alexander Technique is a holistic approach popular in Europe (and famous among Hollywood actors) – it’s a non-surgical, non-invasive, drug-free solution to chronic pain, well-known for back pain relief. The New York Times recently covered landmark British Medical Journal (BMJ) research showing the Alexander Technique had an 86% decrease in pain in it’s 579 subjects who were experiencing chronic back problems (BMJ, 8/08), the most of any modalities tested. This workshop in wellness will benefit anyone looking to decrease pain and improve their posture and movement patterns in!

Description:The Houston School for the Alexander Technique will offer its first Teacher Training program beginning Sept. 2010. This four year program is designed to allow people with employment in Houston or surrounding areas to become teachers of the technique without having to move elsewhere to train. The school meets to study for an extended weekend each month from September through May (please request a course schedule). Other requirements include a five day course in Boca Raton in February.

Alexander Teacher-Training Course

Description:This teacher-training course at the Boston Conservatory is ideal for graduate students there who wish to pursue an AT teaching certificate along with their music or theatre degree. It is, however, open to all students- not just Conservatory students. The full training is 1600 hours and is taken over a minimum of three years. This training is affiliated with Tommy Thompson's training in Cambridge.
Note:The June dates begin the Summer Intensives. Regular classes will begin in September.
